Where do you ship?
We can ship to anywhere in the world.
Information for customers outside North America
You need to have a plug adapter( not a transformer) to your wall outlet as the wall outlet is different in each country. It should cost only a few $.
We will include a bulb which should last 3000 hours, which is quite a long time.
But if you want an extra bulb when we ship, we can include it for $2.00 extra.
We suggest you find those from any electrical store or Amazon.
1 Socket adapter :E12 to E14
2 European type bulb : Clear Torpedo tip 220 V Chandelier bulbs 25W (or different wattage as you like. The higher the wattage, the faster the spinning speed)
Unfortunately we can find only North American type's socket in Canada , so this is one thing we have to ask you to do, if you want to use our lamp for many years to come.
How long will it take for shipping?
USA and Canada customers, please allow 8-12 business days for shipping. International customers, please allow 4-6 weeks by surface and 2-3 weeks by air.
If we are not able to ship your order right away we will notify you by email.
Can I specify a different shipping address?
Yes. You can add a Shipping Address during the checkout process.
Can I send a lamp as a gift?
Yes. We will put your name as the sender and can put a note inside the box for no extra charge. We do not put an invoice or receipt in the box, but if you are in US, we will have to declare the value on the outside of the box for custom purposes.
How does Magic Lamp work?
The heat of the bulb creates a hot air current that rises upward. The hot air then goes through the vent of the cylinder, making it spin. As the cylinder spins, the image on the cylinder projects on to the rice paper screen, making the images almost come alive! And because there are no mechanical parts, the lamp spins silently. Can I change the design of my spinning lamp?
Yes. Because the cylinders are interchangeable, simply order a new cylinder from us. You do not need to buy the full Magic Lamp each time. Select your design at first and choose an option "Cylinder Only" when making your purchase.
I see an option to add a kid's name. What is this?
Glad you asked! We will customize your lamp with your kid's name up to a maximum of 10 characters. Only $5 extra! Select Add name and enter the name you would like added.
I have an idea for a lamp. Do you make custom designs?
Yes. If you send us a description along with three or four photos of what you would like we would be happy to create a custom lamp. The cost of a custom lamp is $110.00 (US) plus applicable tax and shipping. Please call us at 1 (604) 251-7601 or email magiclampca@gmail.com to discuss your custom designed lamp.
Does Magic Lamp project images onto walls?
By design Magic Lamp projects images onto the rice paper, but the paper can be removed to allow the images to project onto walls. You will need to position the lamp close enough to a wall for the images to be visible. If you would like to order a spinning lamp without the rice paper for 2 sides, choose an option " project images onto walls" when you check out.
This option does not work with a name option as the name will go backwards on walls.
Is it safe to leave the spinning lamp on for a long time?
Yes. Magic Lamp uses CSA and UL certified hardware. We do however recommend that you turn off your Magic Lamp when not in use. The cellophane may shrink or fade over time as a result of keeping the lamp on for prolonged periods of time. Turning the lamp off when not in use will also save energy and extend the life of the bulb.
What if the cylinder stops moving?
Check that the lamp is on a flat surface
If there is a shelf or other object above the lamp, it may hinder the hot air current going up
Make sure the lamp is not near a heating or air conditioning duct
The cylinder should not touch the rice paper screen when it spins. If the cylinder is misshapen, try reshaping the cylinder with both hands. Or insert a roll of toilet paper with some fabric around it into the cylinder, and let the cylinder sit until it is round again.
The glass part of the cylinder should sit on top of the metal wire, and the metal wire should not touch any other part of the cylinder. If the metal wire is touching any part of the cylinder other than the glass part, the metal wire needs to be reshaped.
What if the cylinder spins too fast?
Place a firm sheet of paper across the top of the spinning lamp
Replace the existing bulb with a lower wattage bulb (such as a 15W bulb)
What if the rice paper is torn?
You should be able to make a repair yourself as our lamps are handmade. If you want to replace the paper, please contact us. We can send you a repair kit with simple instructions on how to make the repair.
What if the bulb burns out?
You can find the same bulb at a hardware store except California State . Just bring the old bulb along and find a match, or show it to one of the hardware store staff for help.
Or we can send you light bulbs ($2.00 each) but we have to charge you quite a bit for the freight, ( $ 9) if you order only bulbs. If you order a cylinder we can wave the freight for the bulbs.
Otherwise you can buy them from Amazon, unless you live in California. They sell in a bulk of 10, but cheaper than ours and you may not pay the freight. Here is the link.
You can glue it back on with contact cement or super glue. Choose the one that works for glass and paper. If you lose the glass top contact us for a replacement.
Shipping
All Magic Lamps are carefully packed in a double carton, and shipped using Canada Post or UPS.
Product Damage During Shipping
If by chance you receive a damaged product, please advise us within 3 days of your receipt (we will not accept the claim after 3 days).
If necessary we will ask you to send a photo of the damaged product.
If the lamp has minor damage, we will provide technical advice and/or a repair kit.
If your Magic Lamp is beyond repair we will replace the lamp or refund your money.
Returns
You may return an item purchased from www.magiclamp.ca to the address below. We accept returns as long as the following conditions are met:
Contact us by phone or email before returning any product.
Refunds and exchanges are given within 14 days of original order shipment reception date.
Refunds are only for product, not for shipping cost, unless it is our mistake or defective product.
If you choose "Add name" option, we cannot refund for the product, as it is already personalized.
All refunds require that the item be returned in the original packaging, with all pieces and in original condition.
Refunds will be applied to your PayPal account or Credit Card, according to the method that was used to purchase the item.
If a product was purchased from one of our retail stores, please contact them directly.
